The White Knight #1 – Devotion

Content warnings for talk of police corruption, references to military service, chronic illness, hospitals, shooting (nothing graphic), blood and medical issues, prejudice against fictional people, talk of gangs, non-graphic violence, mentions of drug and alcohol addiction, misgendering (in the context of someone assuming the gender where it’s not known), mention of spiders and rats, smoking, and swearing.

Many thanks to LB Lee and KristyCat for sensitivity and beta-reading. Any mistakes are my own.

Please let me know if you see any typos or other mistakes. Thanks.

Shard City doesn’t love anybody, but I can’t help loving it. It has its bright spots but unless you stay in those small oases it turns into a very ugly place at night, The cops hardly try anymore – too many crimes, too many gangs. It’s funny how you get used to it. Used to watching out for the sun setting, for the alleys like open mouths, for the people with gleaming eyes and hidden weapons. I’m sick of it. And I mean to do something about it.

My name is Delia Tyelu. I’m the White Knight.

Spooky has a big blep

(For those who don’t know, ‘blep’ is when critters, especially cats, leave their tongue hanging out)

Image description: three pictures of a black and white cat with her tongue sticking out. In two of them, the tongue is out like half an inch. The cat is laying in the lap of someone (me / Silver) wearing pajamas decorated with sock monkeys.

I’ve started a podcast!

If you follow me on twitter or Facebook you’ve already seen me talking (incessantly, on Twitter) about this, but here’s an official announcement: I’ve started producing a podcast. I’m writing, voicing, and editing it, and I’m open to suggestions.

It’s called A Heroic Moment and it’s a short (about five minutes) podcast set at the radio station of a school for heroes. I’m going to try to be just as diverse as I can – there are already scripts written involving trans, fat, deaf,  and wheelchair-using heroes. And, yes, I’ll be providing transcripts.

You can listen and comment at http://aheroicmoment.libsyn.com and it should show up in Itunes, Google Play, and Spotify in the next couple of days if it hasn’t already.

Got a bunch extra done that Saturday and lots of happy stuff. Didn't get everything done on Sunday.

The Creatives Low-Energy Planner (free download)

I started listening to Productivity Alchemy, a podcast about productivity methods, planners, and what works and doesn’t work for different people. (It’s produced by Kevin Sonney, with help from his wife, Ursula Vernon, who are two of my favorite people. And Kevin has a very nice voice)

This inspired me to create a planner for myself that would take into account my executive dysfunction and general low energy. And I kept meaning to do a post about it, so here it is.

Cat pic of the day

Spooky is not a lap cat (Heidi even less so) but she purrs like wow when I hold her. As long as I don’t move. And she’s on my LEFT shoulder. And no one comes too close. And there are no loud noises.

Cats. Whatcha gonna do?

A dark haired person in a gray shirt holding a black & white cat against their shoulder. The cat is looking away. The person has their eyes closed and a slight smile.
